Who we are

Stanfell publishes a weekly set of cards about UK businesses, built from public records. You can reach us at contact@stanfell.com. Using an account means accepting what is on this page.

An account belongs to a business

We give one account per company email domain, because the free month is per business rather than per person. If a colleague needs access, ask us and we will add them to the same account rather than opening a second one. Do not share the address you sign in with outside your business: a code sent to it is enough to read your account.

The free month

A new account gets one month with up to three categories. At the end of it, the cards you already hold stay readable and new cards stop until we have agreed a paid plan. Nothing renews automatically and we never hold payment details for the free month.

What we promise, and what we do not

Every card is built from a public record and links to it, and we hold ourselves to publishing nothing that does not carry a figure or a dated milestone, a company we can name, and that link. What we cannot promise is the conclusion: that a company will buy, that it will buy from you, that it will buy soon, or that a figure on a record turns into an order of the same size. A card is a reason to make a call, not a forecast, and it is not advice of any kind. Check the record before you rely on anything.

Records are sometimes wrong, late or amended, and our reading of one can be wrong too. Tell us when you find that and we will correct it.

What we ask you not to do

Use what you read to sell. Show a card to a colleague or a contact if it is useful — that is what it is for. What we do ask is that you do not resell or republish the service itself as a product of your own, and that you do not use automated means to copy the cards out in bulk. We rate-limit and log requests, and an account that is being harvested rather than read will be closed.

Examples on the public pages

The cards shown on the home page and on the category pages are worked examples, written to show the shape and the reasoning of a real one. The companies, references and figures in them are not real and are not drawn from any record. What arrives in your account is.

Where the information comes from

The cards are built from information published by UK public bodies, some of it licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Your account carries that attribution, and the licence permits you to use what you read there in your own business.

Ending it

You can stop at any time by telling us, and we will close the account and delete it on request. We can close an account that is being used against these terms, or if we stop publishing altogether. If a paid plan is running when that happens, you get back the part you have paid for and not received.

Liability

Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited. Beyond that, we are not liable for lost profit, lost business or a decision made on the strength of a card, and our total liability is capped at what you have paid us in the previous twelve months. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will email the address on your account before the change takes effect.
